The Fortissimo Classical Music Competition and Festival aims to reveal and support young music talents and encourage them for new steps in music performance; strengthen the interest of children and teenagers in culture and arts; support music education; offer a venue for meetings, master classes and round-table discussions to school and college teachers and leaders of performance groups; support the sharing of best practices between Russian and foreign students and teachers of schools, colleges, art groups and other creative associations; and support tourism and charity activities

Prizes and awards:

Participants will be awarded with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place diplomas and participation certificates. The absolute winner in each category will receive a cash prize:

- Piano – 5000 RR (Russian roubles)
- String instruments – 5000 RR
- Wind and percussion instruments – 5000 RR
- Ensembles – 5000 RR
- Accompaniment – 5000 RR

General regulations:

The Competition and Festival is open to soloists, ensembles and accompanists aged between 6 and 38 years. The application deadline for non-Russian participants from all age groups is 15 January 2017.

For Age Groups 1, 2 and 3, the Competition will consist of one live performance round to be held 18–19 February 2017 at the concert hall of the Music School No. 5 at 43 Shalyapin St. in Kazan, Russia.

Programme for Age Groups 1, 2 and 3: Two pieces of not more than 10 minutes in total duration. Performance of two music pieces written by one composer is not allowed.

For Age Groups 4, 5 and 6, the Competition will consist of two rounds.

Round 1 is a qualifying round to be held through video recordings including one virtuoso piece or etude of up to 10 minutes.

Video recording requirements for Age Groups 4, 5 and 6: Make sure that your video is recorded with a resolution of at least 360 dpi and is not edited. For instrument performers, the video frame must include their faces, hands and instruments throughout the recording. You are welcome to send us your video recording made during an exam or concert if it meets the above requirements.

Post your video recording to YouTube or cloud storage and send us a link or attach it to your e-mail application before 15 January 2017.

The results of the qualifying round will be announced no later than 20 January 2017.

Round 2 will consist of live performances to be held 18–19 February 2017.

Round 2 Programme for Age Groups 4, 5 and 6: Two pieces of not more than 15 minutes in total duration. Performance of two music pieces written by one composer is not allowed.

Round 2 participants are solely responsible for all costs associated with their travel. Please take into consideration when booking a hotel that both check-in and check-out time is 12:00.

Please note that the Organising Committee cannot provide any booking services to participants.


Participation fees:

Participation in the Competition is subject to a fee to be paid by the participants or their representatives during registration.

Groups of 3 to 6 persons – 4500 RR
Groups of 7 to 12 persons – 7000 RR
Accompaniment – 2000 RR (A separate application is required)
